Start a residence renewal by checking what has changed since the previous application: passport, address, employment, business or family circumstances. Resubmitting an old file without these checks often leads to unnecessary questions.

In practice, it is better to use the start of the available period: this leaves time to translate a new passport, correct information and obtain missing evidence. Do not confuse the final filing day with the point when preparation should begin.
Changing employer, closing a sole trader business, buying property or changes in family circumstances may require a different set of documents and separate steps. For a single permit, changing employer involves approval under the prescribed procedure; it is not simply a matter of replacing a company name on the form.
