A sole trader (preduzetnik) is a straightforward structure for working independently, but the choice should be made alongside your tax regime and future clients. Registration itself is only part of launching a business.
In this articleA sole trader is an individual registered to conduct business. There is no legal entity separate from the owner, so the trader is liable for obligations with their own assets. If you need partners with equity, an investor or a more complex structure, compare the DOO option.
Lump-sum taxation is not available to everyone. Before registering, check the activity, turnover, restrictions of the regime and actual relationships with clients. Working for just one client requires particularly careful assessment.
APR is the Serbian Business Registers Agency. Sole trader applications can be submitted using the prescribed paper or electronic procedure. Electronic submission requires a separate check of the signature and the technical readiness of the documents.
The official APR sole trader registration fee is 2,500 RSD under the published tariff at the date of this update. This is a government charge, not the price of full support.
Separate budget items include RICS preparation, an address if needed, banking, accounting and taxes once operations begin. APR's review period does not include bank checks, document preparation or obtaining immigration status.
Registering as a sole trader does not automatically grant residence. We will connect the business and immigration processes in a single plan so that the documents and sequence of steps are consistent.
RICS Consulting's perspectiveThe most useful comparison is the cost of the first year and the ease of working with your clients. Cheap registration does not compensate for an unsuitable tax regime or an inconvenient banking arrangement.
We will review your starting position, set out the steps and prepare a cost estimate. You will receive a scope of services, indicative timing and a clear next step.
