Applying for a Chinese visa in Serbia

Planning a trip to China from Serbia? Start by checking the visa rules for your passport, purpose and travel dates. Serbian residence helps establish where you live, but does not itself replace a Chinese visa.

Entry rules differ for tourism, business meetings, employment and study. Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and transit are checked separately. A temporary visa-free regime may depend on nationality and entry date: conditions that applied last season cannot automatically be assumed for a new trip.

For an L-category visa application, the embassy lists a passport valid for more than six months, a form, a photograph and itinerary evidence: bookings or an invitation. When applying outside the country of nationality, proof of lawful stay or residence in Serbia is required.

• Check that the name matches across the passport, tickets, bookings and invitation.
• Gather details of all travellers, dates and accommodation.
• If you are visiting a partner, distinguish the business purpose from tourism and request a suitable invitation.
• Disclose changes of nationality, previous Chinese documents and earlier refusals in advance.

1. We confirm the category and eligibility to apply in Belgrade before services and fees are paid.
2. We complete the application under the current electronic procedure and check scans and documents.
3. After the preliminary review, we arrange the next consular stage. We check whether representative submission is possible and a personal visit is required for your particular category.
4. We monitor requests for additional information and arrange passport collection.

The published instructions give 1–2 working days for the usual online review and 4 working days for consular processing. These stages do not include gathering documents or additional checks.

The estimate separately shows RICS preparation, the consular fee, translations and any additional services needed. The fee depends on nationality, category and number of entries. To prepare an estimate, start by sending your nationality, purpose, travel dates and status in Serbia.

A strong application has a consistent itinerary and documents that reflect the real purpose of the trip. Do not rely on the embassy being “lenient” or on diplomatic relations instead of preparing properly.
